Heart failure is when the heart is not pumping blood around the body as well as it could.

Prevalence1

  • 110,000 people live with heart failure
  • Almost twice as many men experience heart failure

Deaths2

  • It causes one in 50 deaths
  • One person dies of heart failure every three hours
  • There are seven deaths each day due to heart failure

Hospitalisations3

  • 173 per day are hospitalised due to heart failure
  • This equates to one person every eight minutes
